New Security Trends and Surveillance Technology

Being relatively new to the Life Safety/Security Industry, I didn’t realize all the rules and guidelines to ensure our safety on a day to day basis.  Did you know that the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) requires every Fire Alarm System to be tested and inspected every six months? The Fire Sprinkler Systems are required to be inspected every three months.
 
Since our systems and services are more of a preventative nature and behind the scenes so to speak, it’s not as easy to measure this value in the quality of our lives.  But isn’t it reassuring that these safeguards are in place when so many aspects of our lives we have no control over?    

One of the reasons that I am happy to come to work every day is being part of a company where our primary concern is making people’s lives safer. This would include Fire Alarms and Intrusion Detection Systems along with CCTV Security Cameras, Video Surveillance Systems and Access Control Systems.

I have been doing a lot of work for the company with the SignatureMesh radio monitoring. I was very interested to see how it eliminates old traditional phone line monitoring for the customers, along with the associated continuing cost. I also found it interesting how the radios communicate to each other and use them self’s as communication points to get to the main point. So if one goes down the others know, and re-route their communications with each other to still get the signal to the central station. It’s a self healing and learning system that has its own unique form of intelligence. A smart monitoring system if you will.
